Quilt-making
Hailing from New York City and now residing in Hertfordshire, Michael has been quilting for two decades. His work has been featured in many magazines around the world and he is the author of two books on quilting.
Having studied Advertising + Graphic Design at FIT in New York, Michael became a designer of children’s novelty books and has won awards for his spectacular pop-up books.
Michael takes traditional quilt blocks, which have been around for over 100 years, and interprets them through a contemporary lense; updating the distinct structures with new combinations and his innate grasp of colour theory.
His joyous quilts feature modern fabric collections with a riot of bright colour and patterns. Each an original design, his painstaking approach extends to the skill with which he handles textiles, and the standard to which every quilt is finished.
